My Story
Hi, I'm Mary and I have lived in the Seattle area, for most of my life. Prior to my becoming a therapist, my work experience consisted of working as a para-educator for several years helping educate children and adolescents. Following this, I worked in the medical field for over 15 years.
In my personal life, I raised two kids. When my youngest was a teenager, we dealt with losing my husband/their father to bone-marrow cancer. As one can imagine this was a very difficult time for all of us. However, over time we were able to find meaning and structure in our lives while adjusting to this significant loss. Through this experience I have become more compassionate of others’ pain and suffering from loss and gained a deeper understanding of the fragility of life as well as the depths and complexities of grief.

A few years after our loss and my youngest graduating college, I started back, to finish what I had started several years earlier--getting my college degree. Upon returning to school as an older student, I gained an appreciation of the work/life transitions one faces. Although this journey was made much easier, by focusing on the end-result of one day helping others live more meaningful, healthier, and happier lives.
